Betson Enterprises marks its 90th anniversary by

sticking to long-held principles while always looking
for ways to help its customers be more successful.

              BY BARRY SPARKS

IN 1934, the United States was in the midst of
The Great Depression, Babe Ruth played his
final season for the New York Yankees and the
FBI gunned down the notorious Bonnie and
              Clyde.
It also was the year Greenwich Village res-
taurateur and tavern owner Humbert Betti Sr.
began operating juke boxes in his businesses
and other nearby taverns. H. Betti Industries,
better known today as Betson Enterprises, cel-
ebrates its 90th anniversary this year.
                Betson Enterprises, headquartered in
Carlstadt, New Jersey, is a fourth-generation,
family-owned business. It is a worldwide dis-
tributor of arcade and amusement equipment,
              parts and service.
                Few family-owned businesses last long
enough to observe their 90th anniversary. It’s a
source of pride for Jonathan Betti, senior vice
president of sales and business development.
“It’s special to have a connection to the
people who built the company,” he says. “I’ve
grown up in the arcade business and around
many family members who have been involved
              with it.”
Betti says Betson Enterprises is special to
              more than just his family.
“We have many team members who have
worked for Betson a long time, and they have
relatives who also work for the company. It’s
their family business, too.” H. Betti Industries — today’s Betson Enterprises — got its name from
Proprietors and operators can learn from Hugh Betti, who is joined in this family photo by (from the left) Bert
Betson Enterprises’ long-term success. One of Betti, Eddie Betti and Lou Betti.
