BOWLING
CENTER
ARCHITECTURE

AWARDS

DIVISION
ake a look at these gorgeous centers, all entrants in BCM’s annual
T architecture and design initiative — and they’re not even among the
honorees. ere are no “participation awards” in this competition, but
we like to think that every center that entered is a winner because
their owners invested or reinvested not only in their businesses but
in our industry and its manufacturers and suppliers.
Heading the judging panel for the 2023 Design Awards was
James Nowak, architect, AIA, LEED AP (retired). Nowak was
a senior technical architect for 50 years, leading such Chicago
projects as the 900 N. Michigan multi-use skyscraper, the
revolutionary Rush University Medical Center and Oprah
Winfrey’s Harpo Studios, among many others. Also sought after
internationally, Nowak had a primary leadership role in the
Acropolis building, a high-rise, multi-use facility in Santo Domingo,
Dominican Republic. With his passion for creativity and innovation,
he is eminently quali ed to lead the BCM judging panel.
If you’re impressed with what you see on this page, we think you’ll
be blown away by the projects depicted on the pages ahead.
And don’t miss the May issue of BCM, in which the interna-
tional winners will be featured.
