Setting Up Google Analytics

This is a step-by-step guide on how to add Google Analytics to your website. If you do not know what Google Analytics is, click here for more information. As well, if you have not yet setup a Google Analytics account, click the above link to register an account with them for free. For assistance with creating a Google Analystics, please contact Googles Support team.


  1. Once you are logged into your website with your admin account, navigate to the top left where it says Admin.
  2. Hover your mouse over this, and click the second tab that has the two gear-sprockets icon on it.
  3. Click Google Analystics, located near the top right of the options.
  4. In the field Tracking ID, enter the UA tracking code provided to you by Google from your Analytics account. Example i.e. UA-8675309
  5. In the field URLParameter, LEAVE THIS BLANK!. Google with likely have provided you with a bit of JavaScript code. You do NOT need this for your website.
  6. Leave the checkbox for Track For Administrators? UNCHECKED!.
  7. Click Update at the bottom left.

Adding the tracking ID to your Webservices Site

Google Analytics allows you to track information including the number of visitors and page views, where visitors come from, how long they stay, what keywords they are using to find your site, and more!

Step 1 | Retrieve your Google Analytics tracking ID:

  1. Sign in to your Google Analytics account.
  2. Click the Admin icon at the bottom left of the page
  3. Under the Property section, click Tracking Info.

  4. Click Tracking Code.
  5. Copy your Tracking ID.

Step 2 | Add your Google Analytics tracking ID:

  1. Open your site and log in to the admin panel (https://(Yourdomainname)/login)
  2. Navigate to your Site Settings page within the DNN Persona Bar
  3. Navigate to the settings gear icon
  4. Choose Connectors
  5. Click on Connect next to Google Analytics
  6. Paste the UA code that you got from Google.
    1. You only need the Google Analytics Number not the full code.
  7. Click on Save.

This will copy the code to all pages that are in your site and will be included in any new pages that you create.

It can take up to 24 hours for Google Analytics to begin compiling and processing reports and information for you to see within your Google Analytics.
