So far, most states have decided to maintain the 2015 wage rates for one more year because of low (or negative) inflation. Only South Dakota has calculated that the inflation measure used would trigger a $0.05 increase in the wage. In that state, the 2016 wage rate will be $8.55, while the wage for tipped employees will be $4.28.
