STE Skills Center to create Bowling Coaches/Instructors Award - Bowling Coaches/Instructors Hall of Fame may also be in the works

ARLINGTON, TEXAS - The Skills Center, a division of Strike Ten Entertainment (STE), will be establishing a new national recognition for bowling coaches and/or instructors through the presentation of a new award, The National Coaching/Instructors Award, which will honor an outstanding bowling coach/instructor. Instituting this new award may also lead to the creation of a hall of fame for bowling coaches and instructors.

A task force has been formed to develop award criteria, annually review candidates as well as explore the creation of a bowling coaches/instructors hall of fame. The task force will be led by Jimmy Sturm, BPAA president-elect as chairman along with a panel of distinguished coaching leaders and bowling writers from around the country. Members leading the task force include Dave Garber - USBC co-director of coaching; Susie Minshew - IBPSIA president; Bob Rea - director of coaching for The Dick Ritger Academy; Kelly Bednar - director of the STE Skills Center; and bowling writers Dick Evans and Jim Goodwin.

Applications will be available February 1, 2008. The first award recipient will be recognized at International Bowl Expo 2008 in Orlando on Monday morning, June 23 during the bowling industry awards presentation.

More details will be forthcoming after the task force meets to discuss all the aspects associated with the creation of this award and possible hall of fame.
