New Bowling News Network Unites Tabloids
New Bowling News Network Unites Tabloids ARLINGTON, TEXAS - 20 of America’s weekly and monthly bowling tabloid newspapers and magazines have joined together to create the Bowling News Network (BNN). The new BNN will allow bowling news publishers and editors to share ideas and information, work on industry projects together, and jointly sell advertising to companies interested in national coverage.
Collectively, BNN member publications reach sport and casual bowlers in more than 800 bowling centers and pro shops monthly. This grassroots coverage has been a resource for local, regional and national news and information for more than half a century. Two BNN member newspapers, the Sports Reporter in New Jersey, and the California Bowling News, have been operating since 1940. More than 66 million Americans visit bowling centers at least once every year, and almost three million bowl in weekly leagues and tournaments; for the first time, companies can get their product or service message in all of America’s top tabloids with one source for advertising placement and invoicing. In the past, it was very time consuming for these companies to contact each publication individually to place ads, distribute press releases, and send multiple payments. Administration for the new BNN will be provided by Strike Ten Entertainment, the marketing arm of the bowling industry, from their offices at the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America headquarters in Arlington, Texas. BPAA also provides management services for several other industry groups, including the Billiard and Bowling Institute of America (BBIA) and the International Bowling Pro Shops and Instructors Association (IBPSIA). "We believe that these publications are a very important part of bowling, and Strike Ten Entertainment is pleased to help them make a greater contribution to the industry," said John Berglund, President of STE. "It’s wonderful that we can all get together in this way," said Dan McDonough, publisher of the Sports Reporter. "We’ve been operating on parallel paths for years, and this alliance gives us a chance to work together for the good of the game and the business."
