BOWLING PROPRIETORS’ ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA SEEKING NOMINATIONS FOR EXEMPLARY BOWLING EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR

Winner to Receive All-Expense Paid Trip To Bowl Expo 2011

ARLINGTON, Texas, November 3, 2010 – The Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America (BPAA) announced it has opened the nomination process for the 2011 BPAA Bowling Educator of the Year award. The award, to be presented at 2011 Bowl Expo, recognizes a teacher, educator or administrator who has made outstanding contributions to the sport by further elevating bowling to youth through the BPAA In-school Bowling program.

“This award is a great way to recognize teachers all across the country who are passing along the experience of bowling to children inside their classrooms,” said BPAA Executive Director Steve Johnson. “Youth are the future of our sport. By teaching bowling in school, we are laying the foundation of a life-long participant.”

Nominations are open to all teachers, educators or administrators who are using the BPAA Bowler’s Ed In-school Bowling program curriculum to teach bowling. Additionally,

• Eligible educators must teach grade levels K-12
• Only nominations submitted on the official form will be considered. Forms may be downloaded from the homepage at www.bpaa.com and clicking the BowlersEd link. Candidates are also encouraged to submit a video (VHS or DVD format) demonstrating their ability to teach the In-School Bowling program.
• Nominees must provide a color head shot photo (4” x 6” or larger).
• Nominees must also submit a signed Video/Photo Release form.
• Nomination forms, publicity forms, and video/photo release forms should be submitted to the State Executive Director.

The winner will receive an all-expense paid trip to International Bowl Expo 2011 and will be expected to make an appearance at the BPAA booth and other events to promote the In-school Bowling program to proprietors.

“Teaching bowling in my classes was easy and fun,” said Selinda Riggs, teacher at Cheney Middle School, Cheney, Wash. and the 2009 Bowling Educator of the Year. “By introducing my students to bowling, I feel I gave them the foundation and confidence to go out and bowl on real lanes at their local center. I am proud to have started them in a sport they will be able to participate in for life.”
