The Bowling Foundation Names Troy Greisen as first-ever Executive Director

ARLINGTON, TEXAS - The Bowling Foundation is proud to announce the hiring of Troy W. Greisen as its first, full-time executive director effective August 20, 2008. A collegiate bowler while attending the University of Kansas, Mr. Greisen most recently served as Special Olympics International’s Managing Executive Director of the Asia Pacific region based in New Delhi, India. Prior to that, He held the Vice President of Regional Operations position for Special Olympics headquarters in Washington D.C. . During this time, Troy served as International Bowling Director for Special Olympics promoting the sport of bowling throughout the world as well as developing relationships with many of the bowling industry’s governing organizations, such as Fédération Internationale Des Quilleurs (FIQ), and led the development of the annual Special Olympics/ABC Unified National Bowling Championships.

While with Special Olympics, Mr. Greisen developed extensive senior executive level experience in sports management, developing local and international programs, strategic planning, fundraising, public awareness, grants management, and government relations not to mention many other attributes. His 20 years of experience with international non profit organizations, including more than 15 years in executive level positions, will be a great asset to The Bowling Foundation and its expanding scope to represent not only youth programs and grants but also many of bowling’s charitable entities such as The Bowler’s to Veterans Link (BVL), Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and the USBC Bowl for the Cure® fundraiser, and the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame.

"We are very pleased to have Troy join us as executive director," remarked John Snyder, chairman of The Bowling Foundation. "Troy’s non profit organization expertise, leadership skills, enthusiasm, commitment and passion for youth as well as bowling will be great attributes for The Bowling Foundation. We look forward to working with Troy as we move forward with the Foundation’s many initiatives."

In addition to his collegiate bowling, Troy is a lifelong sportsperson and avid bowler having participated in local leagues and national tournaments. He has a true passion for youth, disabled and the less fortunate evidenced by his degree in Adaptive Physical Education and Recreational Therapy from the University of Kansas and holding High School, Middle School and Elementary level teaching, coaching and trainer positions over the years.

"This is such an incredible opportunity to join the bowling world professionally and lead the Bowling Foundation," commented Mr. Greisen. "The foundation has a strong mission around sports, youth, and improving the lives of so many as well as supporting the entire bowling industry. I am enthusiastic and confident in working with the board and the entire bowling community at large to create and launch a new vision for the important initiatives of The Bowling Foundation."

Mr. Greisen and his family are relocating from the Washington, D. C. area.

The Bowling Foundation is a 501(c)3, tax-exempt non-profit organization and accepts donations. For more information on the work of the Bowling Foundation, visit their web-site www.BowlingFoundation.org.

Headquartered in Arlington, Texas, The Bowling Foundation’s mission is to promote a life long enjoyment of bowling by fostering youth and community health and fitness programs, maintaining the value of sportsmanship, character development, and leadership skills, while providing research, education and training for the bowling community and its athletes.
